How do I know if this slip is a 'fit'?
Would you prefer the comfort of a floating dock or that of a fixed one? Would you like your vessel in dry storage or in the water? Are amenities such as in-slip fueling and/or sewage pump out a major concern? Most of these elements are a matter of comfort and preference, however, others are a necessity.
Ensuring the slip is equipped with the proper electrical supply to facilitate the needs of your vessel is paramount. Proper depth clearances and direct access to the open ocean all join in directly dictating where and how your vessel will be moored.
Additionally, certain insurance requirements may require your vessel to vacate certain latitudes or countries (hurricane and/or flagship stipulations) for a short or extended period of time. In this case, owners will be tasked with finding multiple moorings for their vessel throughout the year.
What's in a slip?
A lot. But sometimes, nothing at all. Many yacht owners are too often confronted with a higher than anticipated tab for docking their vessel. Such fees which were not planned for (water, electric, parking, club fees, etc.) can cause an owners bill to mount and become very different than what was originally promised - a rather frustrating experience, to say the least.
